Yesterday, my collage friend called my Boyfriend and invited us both to spend the evening at his house. I'v never been to his house before and was in for a real shock. The house was big, for one thing, and was complete with it's own area of beach.
Later, when it was dark, he said he wanted to take us both outside to see the moon on the water, but he wanted to show us it on the public part of the beach, as there is a clift blocking the vew. I really didn't think it was a big deal, but whatever.
Anyway, to get to the public part, we had to stumble though the woods. I have no clue how trees can grow like that when the whole floor of the woods was caked in a foot of sand, but whatever.
It was really dark and I was in front, leading, with the tiny pen-light. I was leading becouse Mr.Great-sence-of-direction(my friend) got turned ass-ways backwards in the woods.
-This is funny becouse: Earler he told us(my BF and I) about how men have a better sence of direction becouse males have more iron in their noes. Meaning: that they can sence the pull of the poles. I was like: alright, sure, I'll buy that.-
Untill, of course, when he ended up getting turned around and we came out only feet from the place we entered the woods. I laughed at him and grabbed the flashlight and draged them both back in. I found the way even though I've never been though there before. Take that Cocky iron-noes'!! XD
Anyway, we emerged from the opening of the path, but we were still seperated from the water by some sort of long bush-like grass. There were paths between them, but with that dumb little flashlight, it was really hard to see.
Anyway, while we were going though the reeds(or whatever those green grass plants were) I spoted a small Quarter(coin)-sized dark spot in the white of the sand just before my feet. I stoped short and ended up making them almost crash into me. I'm not sure why I stoped or why I didn't just think it was a rock, I just did. Something told me it wasn't a rock.
Anyway, I stoped and looked at it. It was a little coin-sized turtle! It was so cute! The second I shined the pen-light on it, it instantly tucked into it's tiny shell. I was gushing at it while my BF was laughing at me.
My friend asked if we should bring it to the water, obvously not knowing anything about turtles. This was a land turtle, forest-green in color. Though it might like a pond or something, it wasn't a sea turtle.
I told him no and picked it up as gently as I could, then I placed it under the reeds next to the path. It was so cute.
When I told my mom about it, she asked why I didn't bring it home. Believe me, I thought about it for a for a few minutes. My family brings home lots of strange animals that we find. Things like frogs, snakes, birds and other little critters. (my uncle brought home 2 baby squirels once)
Alot of the time, however, when you have no clue what your doing and it's something people normaly don't have or try to take care of for whatever reason, one mistake could be the last one. I've always felt guilty when they died, like we didn't take good enouph care of it or we ruind it's life.
The guarden snake got and infection that we couldn't fix. The second snake we got was a little green one with an off-white belly that we found just laying on top of the snow. It wasn't moving much... it died the next day. T_T
Anyway, I know that turtles are hard to take care of and that wasn't the kind that you could keep in a tank (those ones get big) So I had to leave it to live it's life. I still wanted to keep it though. u.u
The moon on the water was very beautiful, by the way. ^^
Laters. ^^
